Byteshooter  OBD  Flash  ECU  Programming  Tool

Modern  engines  are  operated  by  a  computer,  better  known  as  ECU  (Engine  Control  Unit).  This  electronic  calculating  
unit  sets  the  pre-ignition  and  the  quantity  of  petrol  which  will  be  injected,  depending  on  a  number  of  parameters  
like  the  surrounding  temperature,  the  density  of  the  sucked  up  air,  the  number  of  revolutions  of  the  engine  etc.  
All  this  data  is  saved  in  one  or  more  memories,  called  EPROM’s  or  chip’s.  Chip  tuning  means  that  the  chip  with  the  
original  data  is  replaced  by  another  one  with  optimized  data,  in  order  to  increase  the  capacity  and  the  torque  and  
to  obtain  a  more  agreeable  and  smoother  motoring  performance  -  in  case  of  turbo  engines  the  performance  increases  
between  20  and  40%  and  goes  hand  in  hand  with  a  reduction  in  fuel  consumption.

The  Master:
Every  master  has  an  unequivocal  signature.  (e.g.,  eurotuning)
The  data  which  are  read  out  from  the  ECU  are  saved  in  the  binary  format.  
The  file  is  able  to  come  immediately,  e.g.,  WIN-OLS  are  edited.
With  the  tuned  file  a  checksums  comparison  must  be  carried  out  finally.
With  all  EDC16  the  checksums  comparison  is  done  in  the  ByteShooter  program.
Then  the  binary,  tuned  file  can  be  written  with  the  ByteShooter  in  the  ECU.

The  Slave:
The  data  which  are  read  out  from  the  ECU  are  saved  as  a  packed,  coded  file.  
The  coding  is  depending  on  the  signature  of  the  master.
The  file  must  be  sent  in  this  format  to  the  tuner  (master).
Only  the  master,  with  the  same  signature  can  open  the  coded  file.
The  tuner  edits  the  opened  file  as  usual.  If  everything  is  finished,  the  tuner  codes  the  file.
Now  the  Slave  can  write  the  tuned,  coded  file  in  the  ECU.
