After the March 11, 2011 earthquake caused the Fukushima nuclear accident, the Japanese government formally adopted renewable energy incentives. Based on the policy, Japan's clean energy sector is expected to receive billions of dollars in investment, which will help the world's third largest economy after the Fukushima disaster to get rid of dependence on nuclear power.
The Japanese government not only aims to cut reliance on nuclear power, and the expensive oil and gas energy demand. The policy requires Japanese public utilities to buy at least 20 of the electricity generated from renewable sources of energy such as solar, wind and geothermal, at a much higher price. Costs will turn to consumers through higher electricity bills.
The Japanese government will provide subsidies for photovoltaic power generation 42 yen per kilowatt hour, which is the amount of subsidies in Germany, the amount of two times the amount of subsidies in China as much as three times. Wind power will receive a government subsidy of at least 23.1 yen per kilowatt hour, while Germany is only about $4.87 (about 6 cents).
Stage performance of renewable energy construction in Japan
