Trade competitiveness index TC index can reflect the competitiveness of products in the international market, the more close to 1 more competitive, equal to 1 indicates that the industry not only export import; the more close to the competitiveness of -1 is less or equal to -1 said the industry only imports; equal to 0 indicates that the industry competitiveness in the middle level. This paper will analyze the impact of the financial crisis on the competitiveness of major national machine tools through the TC index.
From the major categories of view, the machine tool metal processing machine tools and machine accessories, high-grade CNC equipment, testing equipment, mold, tools, cutting tools, four types of parts and components.
In the field of metal processing machine tools, Japan's most competitive trade, TC index in the basic 0.8 or more, in 2009 fell, and then continued to rise, the current basic at around 0.9. The financial crisis has little impact on the competitiveness of German metal processing machine tool trade, in 2009 the TC index reached 0.53, is currently maintained at more than 0.5, compared with the pre crisis increased by 0.1 points. U.S. metal processing machine tool trade competitiveness has improved after the crisis, in 2010 the TC index was -0.07, but in 2011 after a substantial increase in imports, TC index fell again. China's metal processing machine tool trade competitiveness by the adverse effects of the financial crisis, continued to decline from 2009, is now close to -0.7.
In machine tool accessories, the level of competitiveness of trade in 2007 in Germany and Japan, but the crisis after Germany changed little, Japan continued to grow, in 2011, affected by the economic downturn TC index slightly lower, then again. U.S. machine tool accessories trade competitiveness after the crisis has also improved, but after 2010 due to the large demand for imports, the TC index plummeted, has fallen below zero. In the mold, tool and cutter, the German trade competitiveness index showed little change, TC in 0.35, while the Japanese crisis after reaching a maximum value of 0.73; the United States trade competitiveness sharply lower after the crisis; China TC index in 2007 from -0.26 in 2012 to 0.02, a substantial increase in trade competitiveness.
In the test equipment, Germany and Japan's trade competitiveness has been improved in the United States be roughly the same; the crisis after the TC index has declined in 2010. In the high-end CNC device, the German products trade competitiveness, TC index is close to 0.7, Japan in about 0.4 and continue to decline; little change in trade competitiveness of the United States; and China CNC device in the post crisis trade competitiveness index increased significantly, TC from -0.3 in 2007 to 0.04 in 2012, and in 2012 to reduce imports increase export
