区域偏析在焊缝凝固过程中柱状晶前沿推进的同时把低熔点物质排挤到焊缝中心，使焊缝中心杂质的浓 度明显增大，造成整个焊缝横截面范围内形成明显的成分不均匀性，及区域偏析。在焊接条件下 ，由于冷却速度很高而来不及扩散，这种成分的差异将在很大程度上保留在焊缝金属中。这就形成了显微偏析 。

由于区域偏析是在宏观的尺 寸范围形成的，故又称宏观偏析层状偏析如将焊缝的横截面进行抛光浸蚀，就会看到颜色不同的风分层结构，层状线与熔合线轮廓相似 ，各层基本平行，但距离不等。焊缝表面经过抛光浸蚀也可看到同样的层状线，实验证明，这些分层成分作周 期变化的表现。
