聚丙烯酰胺在造纸领域广泛用作助留剂、助滤剂、均度剂等以提高纸张的质量。其主要应用在两方面，一是提高填料，颜料等的存留率；二是提高纸张的强度。还可用于造纸生产的废水处理和纤维回收。
